ISSAC-5
5th International
Symposium on
Single-Atom Catalysis

28–30 June 2027 | ETH Zurich, Switzerland

From isolated atoms to catalytic outcomes.

Following a successful fourth edition in Singapore, ISSAC returns to bring together the community shaping the next phase of atomically precise catalysis.

Why Attend

Since its conceptualization, single-atom catalysis has transformed how we think about active sites. What began as a focus on isolated atoms has evolved into a broader exploration of dynamic structures and complex coordination environments.

Across this space, atomic-scale variations shape product distributions and stability, which in turn determine performance and sustainability metrics. ISSAC-5 brings this full spectrum into focus.

Each edition of ISSAC has aimed to capture these frontiers. ISSAC-5 continues this trajectory, bringing together researchers and practitioners to discuss not only what has been achieved, but also the new questions that have emerged.

Key Themes

  • Dynamic active sites and restructuring under reaction conditions
  • Beyond single atoms: dual sites and interfacial motifs
  • Oxide-supported and non-classical coordination environments
  • Operando methods and structure-performance relationships
  • Bridging model systems and industrial catalysis
